I’m not a stereotypical math nerd, well, maybe I am now, but that wasn’t always true. My BA is in English, mostly because I really didn’t enjoy or understand calculus. While that eliminated chemical engineering as a career option, I also realized I really don’t like to do the same thing day after day after day. We all know two days are never alike in teaching. Although math was my least favorite subject in middle and high school, it has become my favorite subject to teach. I have a MS in Teaching Middle Grades Math, am a trained literacy coach, and am bilingually endorsed. My teaching experience extends from K to 8, including PE. I believe a well-rounded education of students completely opens the world to them. I am passionate about empowering my students to become life-long learners, which only happens if they and I are engaged, challenged, and inspired by learning.
